Maureen E. Emmons, nee Golden, 70, of Mt. Prospect, passed away May 15, 2018. Beloved wife of John L. “Jack” Emmons. Loving mother of the late John Francis Emmons, Patrick Leo (Erin) Emmons, Joseph Louis (Therese) Emmons, and Anne Maureen (Christopher) Shutler. Cherished and honored grandmother of John (13), Robert (13), Maeve (10), Daniel (9), Will (9), Ally (7), Brendan (5), and Connor (3). Dear sister of John Leo (the late Maureen) Golden. Preceded by her parents, John Leo Golden and Eleanor Golden and siblings, William, Richard and Eugene. Fond aunt of so very many.

Maureen was born in Chicago, Illinois, and later moved to Elmhurst, Illinois.

She attended Quincy College where she earned her teaching degree (Class of 1970) and later obtained her teaching credentials. It was at Quincy College where she met her future husband and they were married in 1969 while he was serving in the United States Navy as a Navy pilot. While living in Texas, she taught at a school for under privileged children and was the only teacher at the school with teaching credentials. She then became a mother. She and her husband moved back to the Chicago area to raise their four children. Additionally, she assisted in the family businesses as a legal secretary, paralegal, title closer and title officer.

In retirement, she found her greatest joy spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren. She did so love to watch them in any of their activities.

Maureen will always be remembered for her unwavering kindness. She always made each and every individual she met feel special and always left them with a smile.
